
Here you will be asked for the folder from which the DMG will be created. Next, open the hard disk utility and select "File> New Image> Image from Folder" at the top left. I would just do without dots and special characters in the file name so that there would be no problems on other operating or file systems. I named the folder "macOS Catalina Installer 10-15" but you can be creative here. If you want to keep a copy in the Applications folder, hold down the ALT key while dragging and dropping.

To do this, we create a new folder on the desktop and drag the "macOS Catalina Installer" into it. The next step is now to package this app in a DMG so that it is actually a file, because an ".app" file is usually only displayed as a single file and is in reality a folder with all the content, that belong to the app. The installer is now secured for the time being. Now we switch to the “Applications” folder and look for the “Install macOS Catalina” file. To the right of the apple menu is the menu item that allows you to cancel the installer before making changes to the system.
